Adrianna and Ella’s Story
Growing Up In A Home of Compassion
Adopted at just eight months old, Adrianna grew up in the care of her foster mother, Ella. Ella often says she “birthed Adrianna out of her heart,” a phrase that captures the deep, unconditional bond they share. Adrianna grew up in a home filled with the spirit of service. As Ella continued her fostering work, Adrianna became a compassionate partner in welcoming other children. She could often be found reading to the babies or rocking them to sleep, developing an early sense of empathy and nurturing. Through these small, daily acts, Ella showed her daughter that adoption is not a moment, it’s a lifetime.
Every Child Deserves A Forever Home
That promise found a new, vital expression when Adrianna was only six years old, a tender age when most children navigate playgrounds and lose their first teeth. Ella’s keen maternal intuition noticed a unique quality in Adrianna, an exceptional shyness that seemed to set her apart. Seeking to understand her daughter’s world more deeply, Ella consulted with specialists, and they discovered Adrianna had autism. While this was a significant discovery for their family, it only served to strengthen their connection. In a beautiful display of childhood innocence, Adrianna’s first question upon hearing the news was, “Mama, can I tell my friends?” Ella, offering a supportive smile, replied, “Honey, it’s your story to tell.”
That security provided the bridge for Adrianna to explore her roots in her late teen years, reconnecting with her biological family with Ella’s full support. This openness didn’t weaken their bond; it proved that relationships are built on trust.
A Future Shaped By Love
Today, Adrianna is flourishing as an art student at a university in Toronto, living independently and working towards a career in art therapy for children. Her journey is a testament to the fact that when a child is rooted in a “forever” home, they have the freedom to bloom. Her story is a beautiful milestone, but for many others, the journey to find a place to belong is still beginning—a path we look forward to walking with you this Easter.
Adrianna’s story is one example of what a forever family can make possible. Together, we can help ensure more children experience the same love, stability, and opportunity to thrive.
