Vision, Mission & Values of the Catholic Children’s Aid Foundation

As a registered charity supporting children, youth and families involved withCatholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto, we fundraise so that young people in care and in at-risk families can have critical support needed due to child welfare funding gaps.

Our Vision

We protect children and strengthen family life. We’re striving for a Catholic community in which every young person [involved with child welfare] is supported intellectually, emotionally, spiritually and financially to realize their potential.

Our Mission

We raise and grant funds that help improve the individual lives and outcomes for every child, youth and family served by the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto.

Our Values

We are inspired by the legacy of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, now the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto.

Compassion: We are passionate and motivated to do whatever it takes to help people in need.

Humility: Our work is not about us. Everything we do is designed to benefit others.

Generosity: We provide financial support with a generosity of spirit that reflects the values of the Catholic faith.

Our Story

Fundraising for Canada’s oldest and largest Catholic child welfare agency

Catholic Children’s Aid Foundation is a private charitable foundation supporting the needs of young people and families served by the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto (CCAS). Together with our donors, the CCAS and community partners, we are inspired by Catholic teachings.

The Foundation helps bridge the financial gap between services provided and funded by the provincial government and those services truly needed to help children, youth and families flourish. Our programs provide essentials such as cribs, recreational activities, sacramental funding, scholarships and educational support for youth, emergency assistance, Christmas supplies, as well as transformational programs that improve child welfare experiences and outcomes.

The CCAS began as the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Toronto, incorporated on October 22, 1894, to support the unique needs of the Catholic community in response to a provincial act and funding for Children’s Aid Societies.

Our charitable work originated through Hope for Children, a former department of the CCAS. As our philanthropic efforts evolved, we created a separate entity and identity for the Foundation.

Today, the CCAS and CCAF continue to uphold the Vincentian values of compassion, humility and generosity in providing for the wellbeing of local children, youth and families.
